Peace in the Midst of the Storm

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.  Selah.  There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.  God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”   Psalm 46:1-5 In times of trouble, the redeemed of God need not fear.  Our Great God is bigger than any trouble we will ever face.   In the fiercest of tempests, we can be in perfect peace because  He who calmed the raging storm with a word is with us, and He will deliver us.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever. A Mighty Fortress

These words, penned so long ago by the great reformer Martin Luther, are just as true to today, and just as needed today for our encouragement, as they ever were.  May they comfort your soul, and cause faith to rise up in your heart. A mighty Fortress is our God, A Bulwark never failing; Our Helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing: For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, The Man of God’s Own choosing: Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth His Name, From age to age the same, And He must win the battle. And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us: The Prince of Darkness grim, We tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, For lo! h
