The Greatest Need of the Day Is Repentance

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”   2 Chronicles 7:14 There is much talk today about the need for prayer and revival.  Prayer is indeed essential, and if there was ever a desperate need for revival, it is in this dark and evil day. But prayers will not be heard, nor will revival ever come, without genuine heartfelt repentance and obedience on the part of God’s people. In our text, God gives clear instruction for revival and blessing. First of all, He says, “If my people, which are called by my name . . .”   This message is to God’s people only.  No other people can ask for revival and it be given except God’s people.  It is they who can bend His ear regarding this matter, and they only.
